What’s up Haute Stars and welcome back to The Haute Way. Today we’ll be discussing the importance of authenticity. Being original and not a clone. God created each of us with something that sets us apart from the next person. If we are too busy trying to copy someone else, then we are robbing the world of our greatness. With so many people leaving this world “before their time” we should be more focused on being us and completing our purpose.
What does being authentic mean? To answer that, think about what comes to mind when you say the word authentic. I think of something true, pure, and original. Many people now and days are on this new kick of being and staying woke, however, you can’t be nor stay woke if you are not being authentic. With the recent tragic death pf Nipsey Hussle, someone who embodied being authentic, we see the impact one has on a community when they are their authentic selves. We also get a chance to see from his killer the issues with being inauthentic. If we focus too much time on people around us and their wins compared to ours, we can find ourselves envying and hating someone we have the potential to surpass if we just do the necessary work. Being authentic requires continuous soul searching, self-evaluation, and personal growth; all of which are not easy (which is why most people opt not to do it). You have to be willing to hold yourself accountable for your own actions, choices, and mistakes and put in the necessary work to change what needs to be.
Authenticity is the art of embodying everything you are, good and bad, and using that to fulfill your purpose. All of your parts work together to get you to where you need to be. Comparison kills your authenticity.
It’s ok to admire someone and wanting to model some of their practices but you need to ensure it is still more you and less truly coping them. While I was dealing with the affects of my divorce, I could not simply just copy the lives of others around me dealing with the same thing. I had to spend time finding out what will help me and what set me back. Blueprints are maps to help guide you, you still need to put in the work. Everyone has a purpose and even though there are a lot of people with similar purposes, the people make them different. They each walk different paths with different experiences that help them speak to people and help them in different ways. We have to start embracing our pains and allow them to help us not just hold us down. There truly is beauty in pain, God truly does give beauty for ashes, but not without work on your end. We all have limitations, pains, issues, and/or problems; those are our tools. We should use them and not let them stop us. Put in the work and the time required to be authentic. Be the light for someone else and not the one casting darkness. We all want to shine (and we were all made to shine) and you can only do that when you are authentic. Be the real thing not fools gold.
Until next time….
Keep God first, look for the beauty in your own lane, get in it, and enjoy the ride!! Love God, your neighbor, but don't forget to also love yourself!! In that order!! Be blessed!! 💋💋👸🏾👸🏾
